Cross Stitches

Another Hallmark Forever Friends cross stitch.

农家鸡 or farm chickens cross stitch that took me a week to complete. Measures 50cm x 25cm on 11 count Aida. It has 17 colours, 1 half stitch colour, 3 back stitch colours.

5" x 5" Forever Friends cross stitch. The outline is the hardest part as it doesn't line up with the holes in Aida fabric exactly.

My first Christmas cross stitch. 7" x 9", 21 colours, 6 long stitch colours, 14 count Aida fabric.

Patriotic Angel from the Petite Gold Angel series. It's still photo size 6" x 8" on 18 count Aida fabric. Gold tassels embellishments.

Twilight Angel from the Petite Gold Angel series of cross stitches. Its the size of a photo 6" x 8", using 16 count Aida fabric. The highlight of this is the embellishments/beads sewn on at the end.

Goddess of Mercy (58 x 92 cm). It was 2 years in the making but I really only took about 9 months to work on it. My first time using metallic floss that is really tricky, it's not pliable like cotton thread and once it starts coming apart you have to end there and start with a new floss. This time around there are 36 colours and 7 long stitch colours, pretty basic for a cross stitch this size.

Spring Flower Banner (106 x 60 cm). My largest cross stitch attempt to-date that took me about a year to complete. It's fairly straightforward using just 39 colours and no colour mixing, so just wide open spaces to sew.

Sailing Boat (35 x 40 cm). Using the more advanced 14ct Aida fabric, this cross stitch has 40 different colours and is rather special in that it showcases the extensive longstitches that go over the cross stitch at the end. The longstitches alone require 8 different colours. Took me 2 months to complete.

Mandarin Ducks (66 x 50 cm). Made for my newly married uncle. It took me almost 7 months to complete as it has 50 colours. There wasn't enough floss for 1 main colour, I had to buy some online and the seller sent me more so I could complete the piece. It is soft, romantic with distinct Chinese influence.

5 Blessings (35 x 50 cm). I bought this kit in Guilin, China for $5, trending larger cross stitches there at the moment so smaller kits like this are sold cheaply. I managed to complete it within 16 days. I chose this for the gourds that are unique to China. People used to hollow these gourds out to hold water.
